Gas Sensors

SmartMaxII

The SmartMaxII is a microprocessor-controlled standalone monitor designed for all indoor & outdoor field installations. The SmartMaxII generates three types of output signals: relay contacts from 3 relays, an analog 4-20mA output signal, and a digital serial link (RS-485 Modbus half duplex) which permits bi-directional digital communications. Multiple monitors can be arranged in any order on a single 3-wire communication line, thereby reducing wiring requirements.

The SmartMaxII microprocessor performs the following functions:

  • elimination of signal noise
  • linearization of readings
  • cuts response time up to 90% (with catalytic sensors)
  • processes up to 4 sensor signals and reports readings

Catalytic and Electrochemical Sensors

The Control Instruments catalytic and electrochemical sensors are widely used as area monitors for detection of combustible and toxic substances. When used with the SmartMaxII standalone controller, they can report directly to many existing control systems without the need for a dedicated monitor instrument.

The controller is an explosion proof field transceiver that can accept up to four combustible, toxic or oxygen sensors, greatly reducing both purchase price and installation costs. Its designed for indoor and outdoor area monitoring installations & reports the readings from up to four sensors including catalytic sensors for LFL monitoring and electrochemical sensors for oxygen and toxic gas monitoring:

  • Microprocessor-controlled standalone monitor
  • Linear output signal
  • Micro fuel cell technology
  • Automatic zero and span calibration
  • Permanent flow-through calibration collars
  • Remote access & adjustment features
